In 2016, we saw 618 locals join Orana Relay for Life and proudly raise a grand total of $64,955 providing vital funding towards the Cancer Councils ongoing fight against cancer.
With only three months to go the upcoming Relay for Life will be held over the weekend of Saturday, October 28 at 3pm, to 9am Sunday, October 29 at Barden Park, Dubbo.
Families and teams will be out in full force at this year’s Relay for Life, an event which has proved to be a valuable opportunity for the community to band together for a weekend of fun, entertainment, celebration and remembrance.
The committee is excited to announce Orana Relay For Life won the Highest Percentage of Participation Growth award at the annual Relay For Life Summit held in Sydney over the weekend. The event saw 47 per cent increase in participation growth from 2015 to 2016, and the committee are aiming to have even more participants at this year’s Relay.
Jason Dearmer, Chairperson from the Volunteer Organising Committee, is encouraging everyone to get involved.
“We have lots of fun games and activities organised for Relay, it will be a great weekend for the whole family,” he said.
To register a team in Relay For Life simply go to www.relayforlife.org.au/Orana or call the Cancer Council office on (02) 6392 0800.
