Another great week for the Dubbo electorate, I joined Roads Minister Melinda Pavey last Friday inspecting two sites where over $21 million has been invested on the regions road and rail networks. These works and many others across the electorate are proof of the government’s commitment to improving road safety and freight efficiency across the region.

I know road works can be inconvenient but I make no apologies for that. Improving the regions roads to make them safer for all of us and reducing the road toll is a priority for me and the NSW government.
It was also a pleasure to join NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons and Dubbo Regional Council Administrator Michael Kniepp to announce $9 million in funding towards the building of a NSW Rural Fire Service training centre in Dubbo.
It was also great to meet and congratulate RFS Cadet Graduates from Dubbo College Delroy. I commend each of these students on completing the RFS Cadet program and wish them well for the remainder of the school year. More great investments into the Dubbo electorate and there is more to come.
NSW INFRASTRUCTURE GRANTS
Last week Minister for Racing Paul Toole launched the annual Liquor & Gaming NSW Infrastructure Grants program, with funding this year available for Arts & Culture, emergency preparedness and sport and recreation projects.
The Infrastructure Grants program is funded by Clubgrants Category 3 Fund, which reinvests profits from gaming machines back into community projects.
For the term of this government we are providing $50 million in funding to communities across NSW. Last year this resulted in over 40 communities being supported to build, expand or enhance infrastructure.
Key changes to the program include new funding ranges, a streamlined application process, and more opportunities to apply across the year with grant rounds in August 2017, November 2017, February 2018 and May 2018.
If you are interested in applying for an Infrastructure Grant I encourage you to read the Program Information booklet available on the Liquor & Gaming NSW website liquorandgaming.nsw.gov.au. The booklet is an ideal resource providing information on eligibility, selection criteria and how to apply.
PALLIATIVE CARE UPDATE
Last month I spoke about the government’s commitment to palliative care and as the community is aware, in last month’s NSW State Budget, $100 million was committed over four years to provide tailored community-based palliative care services.
The government has held a number of roundtables around the state with the Western region workshop hosted by NSW Health held in Orange back on May 1.
At this workshop participants spoke about personal experiences will palliative care, what works, what doesn’t and what needs to improved and considered into the future.

The government will use feedback from these community roundtables to improve palliative care services across the state.
COMMUNITY BUILDING PARTNERSHIPS REMINDER
I would like to remind community groups from across the electorate that applications for funding under the CBP program close at 5pm on the August 9.
This is a great funding program for not-for-profit groups, clubs, councils and sporting groups to apply for funding to complete community projects.
I encourage any eligible community group to get in quick and submit their application.
