Thirty three Catholic schools from across the Central West gathered in Wellington on Tuesday to showcase innovative ways they have changed from a teaching to a learning focus.

The inaugural Diocesan Showcase, titled “Our Journey of Transformation”, was hosted by St Mary’s Catholic School. Wellington was the chosen venue due to its central location in the Bathurst Diocese.
The day involved a presentation by guest speakers, a showcase of programs by attendants, and a question and answer time in the afternoon.
Keynote speakers included Professor Stephen Dinham, Associate Dean Melbourne Graduate School of Education, University of Melbourne, and Dr Julia Atkin, an independent education and learning consultant who has worked with educators in Australia and internationally.
A special guest appearance by Andrew Giles, member for Scullen Victoria, Shadow Assistant Minister for schools was an added bonus for the audience.
St Mary’s acting principal, Leanne Clarke, said the day highlighted the importance of students reaching their full potential and for teachers to facilitate that in how they teach.
“It was a real honor to have everyone here, it was very special,” Leanne said.
“It was so successful they’re going to plan another one in two years time.”
