TREASURER VISITS
It was great to host the Treasurer, Dominic Perrottet in the electorate this week. Only weeks after the state budget the Treasurer chose to holiday in the Dubbo electorate, spending time in both Mudgee & Dubbo.
Last Tuesday night I joined the Treasurer at a dinner hosted by the Mudgee Chamber of Commerce. This was a fantastic opportunity for the Mudgee community to meet and ask questions of the Treasurer and his plans for the future.
The Treasurer spoke about the states $4.5 Billion surplus saying that hard work and sound economic management contributed to our strong fiscal position.
He rightly said without sound economic management and money in the bank, projects like the new Hospital for Mudgee would never become a reality.
A record $7.7 billion will be spent across four years on health infrastructure alone, bringing world class health services to families and communities across the state.
I thank the Treasurer for spending time in the Dubbo electorate and for his continued support of our communities.
HAVE YOUR SAY
I urge people living in the Dubbo Electorate to identify the challenges faced by women and suggest solutions for these issues, in the ‘Have Your Say’ online survey.
There is still a gap between men and women’s financial status, workforce participation, caring and family responsibilities and vulnerability to violence, among other issues.
That’s why the government is working on the state’s first Women’s Strategy to tackle these issues.
The Strategy will focus on addressing key challenges in the local community, including; economic empowerment, health and wellbeing, culture and identity and leadership.
The Strategy is an important initiative that will improve equality and equity for women and girls in the local area and across NSW.
Community participation is key to developing an effective strategy, we need as many people from the Dubbo Electorate involved as possible in order to work to identify and overcome the impacts of inequity and discrimination on women and girls.
Results from the survey will be considered during the development of the NSW Women’s Strategy, to be released later this year.
I strongly urge men in our electorate to also contribute to this important strategy.
