Conrad Chivers is a descendant of George Christmas Blunden who fathered seven children – Barry, Max, Colin, Marjorie, Ailsa, Roma and Dorothy.
Sometime in the early 1900s George sold his property in Wellington and bought a Cattle Station near Wandoan in Queensland. The name of the cattle property was “Merungulan.”
His four daughters and his wife, Elizabeth, were against the move and instead went to live in Cathedral Street, Rockhampton, Central Queensland.
Conrad’s cousin, Rodney Keir, has been doing intensive research on the family’s ancestry and came across two photos unable to be identified.
The first – a young man in Australian Military uniform possibly from WWII.
The second is of a bride and groom who Conrad believes to be close friends of the Blunden family. On the back of the photo is a handwritten inscription which reads as follows: “George and Giga – with much love Elsa and Ben.”
Conrad and Rod now hope someone living in Wellington can help identify the people in the photos and provide personal details.
If you have any information that may be helpful in the family’s quest to identify the photos, please email it to elouise.hawkey@fairfaxmedia.com.au or contact the Wellington Times office on 6845 2755.
