At Dubbo last Thursday 3990 prime cattle penned in a plain quality yarding with only the odd pens of well-finished cattle. Feeder cattle were also limited, trade young cattle lost 12 cents, lighter and better quality Angus steers were firm while the rest of the feeders fell 6 to 9c. Restocker young steers were cheaper topping at 376c/kg. Heavy steers were down 9c, heavy heifers reached 291c, cows were 6-8c cheaper.
Quotations: calves 250-500, steer vealers 290-376, heifer vealers 256-349, steer yearlings 242-367, heifer yearlings 200-346, heavy steers 230-359, bullocks 224-308, heavy heifers 235-325, light cows 158-200, medium cows 129-236, heavy cows 206-245, bulls 220-290.
Last Friday at Dubbo 550 Store cattle penned in a good selection of steer and heifer weaners though cows and calves were limited compared to the previous store sales cheaper market, steers and heifers rose $30, steer weaners sold from $420-$1110 to avg $833 or 355c per kg, weaner heifers ranged from $340-$965 to avg $678, only limited numbers of steer yearlings trading from $690-$1180 to avg $907 or 287c per kg, yearling heifers realised $735-$800 to avg $768. PTIC cows made from $860-$1200 to avg $1017, cows and calves sold from 1080-$1575 for a pen of Angus to avg $1322, unjoined cows ranged from $730-$860 to avg $800.
Dubbo on Monday, 33950 lambs penned in a mixed quality yarding however a good selection of trade and top heavy lambs were present. A large percentage of Merino’s along with good numbers of Dorpers were also present. Heavy lambs up to 26kg fell $1 to $3, the over 26kg lambs were firm to $4 dearer. Lighter trade lambs were a little cheaper while the heavy end finished firm to $3 dearer. Processor light lambs dropped $4 to $8, Merino lambs were firm to $3 dearer due to the better selection available with the trade weights ranging from $100 to $150. Restockers paid to $113 and hoggets reached $160. Quotations: light lamb $30-$117, medium lambs $107-$133, heavy lambs $124-$157, supermarket lamb $139-$175, export lamb $165-$227.
11100 mutton penned in a mixed quality yarding. Merino sheep lost $7 and cross breds were firm. Quotations: light ewes $20-$90, medium ewes $81-$128, heavy ewes $120-$175, light wethers $70-$79, medium wethers $97-$135, heavy wethers $128-$156, rams $60-$134, ram lambs $111-$134.
