Getaway with a book
Banish the winter blues and escape the cold this winter by snuggling up under a blanket with a good book. The Macquarie Regional Library is running a reading program during winter for all ages and, just in case enjoying great books isn’t enough incentive, there are great prizes to be won. Prizes include 3 android tablets and tickets to the theatre. The more you read the more chances you have of winning.
“With over 33,000 borrowers and more than 300,000 items borrowed last year it is clear that locals already like to get away with a good book!” said John Bayliss, Director of Macquarie Regional Library. “However, the Winter Reading Program just adds more incentive to read”.
Just like getting away on a holiday, reading can be great for our stress levels. Research conducted in 2009 at the University of Sussex showed that reading was the most effective way to overcome stress, even more than listening to music, enjoying a cup of tea or even taking a walk!
“The Winter Reading Program is just one opportunity to celebrate and reward library patrons who are helping build a community of healthy, happy readers!” said Mr Bayliss, who encourages everyone to join the library for free and get with the program.
This program runs from May 22 to July 31. Grab your reading entry form at any branch of MRL or download it from the website. For more information contact the library on 68452156.
