Fahey had four runners; Nemo Dat placed third in the 12:40pm Terry Bros. Furniture and Bedding/Donges Supa IGA Maiden Handicap (1000 METRES), Darby Blue (NZ) ran ninth in the 2:35pm Hilltops Equine Centre Maiden Plate (1300 METRES), Kalisa’s Secret finished fifth in the 3:15pm Elevation Restaurant Maiden Plate (1300 METRES) and Great Body ran fifth in the 3:55PM Kevin Miller, Whitty Lennon and Co Class 1 Handicap (Scaled +1.0kg) (1400 METRES).
About 42 mm of rain fell on Friday night through to Saturday morning, so the threat of cancellation was very real but with the sun shining and an early morning inspection from the stewards the call was made to move forward with the meeting, declaring the track a heavy nine classification for the first race at 12.40 pm.
Time of Her Life, trained by John Rolfe and ridden by Michael Travers, took out Race One ahead of Getting Ready for Wendy Baker and Nyssa Burrells with the Terry Fahey trained Nemo Dat owned by local Keith Carmody and Daniel Pitomac.
Riders returned to the scales after the first race and declared the track suitable and fit for racing. Wellington owner and prolific racegoer Joaquin McLennan took home The Loft Best Dressed Lady award.
