“Part of the development of the master plan for the pool includes significant community engagement concentrated on the Wellington Community,” Director Parks and Landcare Services Ian McAlister said.
“We want to know what the community really wants from their new aquatic centre.”
“The consultation will also include the future of Bell Park and whether Council should retain the park in its existing form or include it as part of the new pool complex.”
The community consultation will take place over a two-week period from 15 May to 26 May, 2017. During this time Council will employ a number of measures to gauge community opinion.
“Council will be meeting directly with key stakeholders including the Wellington Amateur Swimming Club, Wellington schools, heritage advisors and Wellington Hospital representatives and occupational therapists who will help to identify disabled or aged access requirements,” Mr McAlister said.
“An integral part of the community consultation will also be two community meetings which will be held on Monday 15 May at 7.30pm and Tuesday 16 May at 10.30am. Both meetings will be held at the Council Administration Building (Council Chambers) located on the corner of Namina Crescent and Warne Street, Wellington.”
“There will also be a phone survey, street survey, online survey and feedback sheets that people can fill in at the Council Administration Building located on the corner of Warne Street and Nanima Crescent.”
“Community involvement in this project is essential so we can deliver the best facility for the residents.”
