The Paul Braddon-trained flyer started a rock-solid $1.60 favourite for his heat, and showed why when he bolted in by eight-and-a-quarter lengths.
His time of 29.35s was almost half a second quicker than any of the other three heat winners and only 0.05s outside Brad Hill Billy’s course record of 29.30s, recorded in April of last year.
From box seven, the Fabregas x Janderra’s Fury dog was able to cross to the rails early courtesy of a 4.66s first split, and from there it was all over as he proved too good for Slamming Thunder ($5.10) and Kilkee May ($13.20).
The second quickest of the heat winners was the Neil Staines-trained Mitra.
