Conn said it was always going to be a challenge facing the Gorillas outfit.
“They’ve come down from the top grade and have been playing together for a while.
“They were very structured and we weren’t quite as structured. The guys played with a lot of heart and I am happy with that,” he said.
“We were right up in the game until the last ten or so minutes when they opened it up a little, but we were competitive right from the start.

“Our defense was solid; Narromine resorted to kicking penalty shots because they couldn’t get through our lines.”
Conn said the loss now gives him a good idea of where the side needs to improve and what strengths to focus on.
“We’ve got a team of guys who haven’t really played together, so they haven’t had a lot of time to gel, but that just means we’ve got room to improve.”
The Redbacks have the Easter weekend off.
