A range of staff, including allied health, health promotion, nursing and hotel services positions have been appointed to the facility which was previously struggling to fill a number of important vacant positions – including manager positions.
Wellington Health Service Manager, Sally Loughnan, who has only been appointed to the role herself in the last seven months, said she was extremely thrilled to have all the new staff on board.
“The Health Service was struggling to attract the right staff to the positions that were vacant, so I am so excited that we have now successfully appointed more than 20 staff in crucial areas of the Health Service,” Ms Loughnan said.

“We have appointed a full time physiotherapist position, which has greatly assisted in providing services to hospital patients who are recuperating from recent surgery, falls, and to assist patients who require assistance rehabilitating after lengthy admission to hospital.”
Ms Loughnan said a full time health promotion officer – assisting patients with smoking cessation – has been appointed.
Ms Loughnan said aqua exercise groups and cardiopulmonary groups have been added, and important services like women’s health information sessions and the Stepping On program which aims to reduce falls in our hospital.
“I’m also thrilled that we have appointed a new hotel service manager and both permanent and casual hotel services staff including cleaners and cooks to help out with food preparation and keeping our hospital clean and tidy.”

“In the last six months we’ve successfully recruited more than ten new nurses to work in Wellington Health Service, and this is a fantastic result for the facility.
“We are also excited to be looking at clinical placement opportunities and work experience for enrolled and registered nursing students, social work, physiotherapy and allied health assistance, just to name a few.”
