As of Sunday night the group had raised $2070, but Mitchell Inn owner Jill Fineran said several more donations had been received since then.

Ms Fineran said seven people were originally planned to shave or colour their hair, but one was unable to make it due to work commitments.

She said she is thrilled with the proceedings.

“It all went really, really well.

“We ended up having a few more shaving or colouring their hair than we’d had registered initially,” Ms Fineran said.

Ms Fineran said three more volunteers had their heads shaved, including the publican who joined in to tip the donations to over $2000.

Because of the success of this year’s event, Ms Fineran said plans are already underway to host a similar event next year.

“People who want to take part can get in contact with us – preferably before Christmas – to get things rolling.”
