Seventeen members took to the greens in last Wednesday’s Jackpot Bowls.

Winners on the day on a countback were Mick Buttsworth & Harold Baker (Visitor) who defeated Dave Stace & Trevor Elemes. Runners up were Don Graham & Bill Meharg who defeated Glenn Porter & Frank Gersbach  Other results were  Pat Cassidy & Richard Carpenter defeated Jason Cornish & Kevin Stanley, Jack Charlton, Ross Pharo & Barry Smith defeated Brian Charlton, Allan Manning & Ron Oxenham.

Jackpot was not won while Kevin Stanley won the Raffle. Jackpot Bowls are on again today (Wednesday) names in by 1.00pm for 1.30pm start. Jackpot now stands at $300

Whilst Wellington's actual playing season has finished, there is one final and major event to be held and that is the junior presentation evening.

This year it is being scheduled for Rygate Park from 6.30pm with some night cricket making part of the fun to finish he season with. Parents make sure you bring your running shoes too.

MEN

Wellington Golf Club saw bright skies greet all golfers last Saturday with a couple of visitors enjoying the course, Peter Mitchell from Duntry League and Greg Freeman from Wentworth golf clubs.

Wellington Golf Club's division 4 Pennants team was the only local team to make the semi-finals, but alas they couldn't go any further going down by 3 matches to 2.

The board of the Wellington Golf club would like to thank every player that turned out for Pennants and those players would also like to thank McDonald's Wellington for there support over the past couple of years.

Last Saturday's events were an Individual Stableford with Mitchell Spradbrow-Central West Auto Electrical kindly sponsoring the day and the semi finals of the KEIRLE'S Pharmacy summer competition were played.

Winner of last Saturday's event who finally putting together a good round of golf was Elton Keeffe on a count back as well, his final score being 40pts.

Runner-up was the very consistent Errol Flood who also had 40pts.

Ball competition winners were Elton Keeffe 40pts, Erroll Flood 40pts, Gary McCarroll 40pts, Peter Bryant 40pts, Chris Woolfrey 39pts, Kevin Reid 39pts.

Ron Stubblefield Toyota terrific tee shot the 3rd went to David Naveau 485cmts, the 8th went to Jamie Gersbach 9m, the 14th went to Rod McMahon 546cms, the 16th went to Elton Keeffe 1.31m.

Gersbachs Mechanical nearest the pin in 2 shots on the 13th hole went to Malcolm Payne.

McDonald's biggest whack in A grade was to hard this week and in B-grade it went to that Gorilla Man Jamie Gersbach who whacked it 218 miles.

Brent's NFI award winner last Saturday was Steven McCarroll who must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed to only record 28pts.

Results of the Qualifying Finals of the KEIRLE'S Pharmacy summer competition saw the Bye defeat the Goodsorts and the Dirt Scoopers defeated Von Zipper, that see's the winner's going straight in to the Final.

Results from the Elimination Finals of the KEIRLE'S Pharmacy summer competition saw the Back Nine Boys defeat the Montefiore's Mauler's and the Printers Devils defeated the Phoenix.

Qualifying Semi-Final of the KEIRLE'S Pharmacy summer competition see's the Dirt Scoopers taking on the Printers Devils and the Goodsorts taking on the Back Nine Boys.

Raffle winner was James under Barb and the lucky schooner winner was Jimmy Armstrong.

Round 23 winner of the Twilight golf competition saw Tony Cowan finally stop sooking and win the day with a 29nett. The mystery hole was squared and Ron Cowan won the raffle.

Leaders of the Twilight golf competition with 3 rounds left to play are David Wilson -24, Jamie Gersbach, Rex England and David Gillard -22 and Peter Payne -20 these players have the best chances of winning the prize.

LADIES

Last week's opening competition game saw 18 players take to the course with Denise Haesler taking out Division 1 and Carmel Cohen Division 2.

Gae Drew and Pauline have drawn the starters and cards duty for today's Stroke Event featuring the 1st Women’s Golf NSW, Haines Fuller and Jess Davidson Salver competitions.

Thank You: Thank you to all the great volunteer helpers over the past two weekends for the Vintage Fair, Ray Hadley BBQ, Boot, Diggers and Central West Men’s Pennants Semi-Finals.

The Vintage Fair and Boot are the Club's annual Fundraising events and having Pennants awarded to our great course was a bonus.

Ray Hadley visiting Wellington to promote the Boot and Championships Race Meeting was a great opportunity for people to meet this 2GB radio character - it was a shame more people didnt take advantage of this opportunity.

Congratulations to the Club's Division 4 team on making the semi-finals at Cowra, going down to Forbes in a close finish 3 games to 2. Well done to Rod Irwin, Bill Bright, Geoff Walker, David Sears and Jimmy Armstrong.

DIGGERS

Sunday saw the Diggers also take to the Course before Pennants commenced fitting in well amongst the visitors. Well done to Errol and his group. Their next outing is planned for Sunday March 26.

VETERANS

17 players turned up Tuesday for a nice morning out with Duckie Gillard 42 points from Mal on a count back. Duckie also took out the "putting competition.

Thursday's "Chicken Run" saw only 5 from the usual 6 players with Bruce James and Trev Messenger having to shout the Lottery Ticket.

Janelle Frappell was the star of the night taking out both the 30 & 50 metre events being spot on her time in the 30 metre & 0.97 outside her time in the 50 metre.

Xandah Edwards & Lilly Sheridan won the Junior Events. Rob George & Aaron Edwards combined to win the Brace Relay being 0.32 outside their nominated time.

Twenty five years after his father won the big race, Queanbeyan trainer Joe Cleary completed a family double on Sunday when his speedy two year old filly Lucy Rose took out the $100,000 State Wide Sheds Wellington Boot.

In 1992 Frank Cleary won the Boot with Danza Dark owned by Guam based American businessman Ken Jones Jnr who travelled to Wellington to see Danza Dark ridden by Malcolm Johnston defeat Moville Dancer and Double Zero.

Ridden a tremendous race by Cowra jockey Mathew Cahill in the 2017 Boot, Lucy Rose ($8) overcame the outside barrier in the 1100 metres sprint to lead most of the way for a threequarters of a length win over Princess Lottie (Belinda Hodder, $15) with Boyish (Bobby El-Issa, $7) finishing third.

Previous Wellington Boot winners for Mathew Cahill were Jackpot Queen (2011) and Gold Bender (2012).

Mathew Cahill was also aboard Lake Lugarno, brilliant winner of the $45,000 Wellington Town Plate for Forbes trainer Barry Molloy.

Now with the imposing record of 7 wins and 4 placings from 12 starts, the 4-year-old mare Lake Lugarno ($2.40 favourite) shared the lead with Don't Tease Me then accelerated for a dashing win in fast time by over two lengths over Polskie Prince (Bobby El-Issa, $26) and Danish Lace (Kaylee Kirkwood, $4.80)

Greg Ryan rode a winning treble, Loose Goose ($2 fav.), Western Parade ($4 fav.) and Turf Tapper ($3 fav.).

Trangie Gold Cup meeting is on Saturday and also the Outback Cup at the Broken Hill St Pats meeting.
