The weekend will take a step back in time and offer a number of genres, including a horror night.
The drive-in reopening will start on Friday April 7 with Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) starring Gene Wilder, a post to the WestView Drive In Re-Opening -2017 Facebook page said.
The second movie of the night will be Top Gun (1986) starring Tom Cruise.
On Saturday April 8 the first session will be Grease, the 1978 film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.
And everyone will be set for the time of their life when Dirty Dancing shows in the second session.
The 1987 movie stars Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze.
“We are very excited to announce our Sunday Night Horror Movie that will be shown at the Dubbo Youth Week, WestView Drive-In on Sunday 9th April 2017,” the organisers said in a Facebook post
“A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) Starring Robert Englund and a young Johnny Depp will be our awesome 80's horror movie. This movie created a franchise and was one of the great horror flicks of it's time.”
The drive-in project, a partnership between Dubbo City Youth Council and Dubbo Regional Council (DRC), will see the projector at the city’s old drive-in on the Mitchell Highway flicked on for the first time in three decades.
Each movie will be ticketed separately, with tickets available from Friday at 9am for $35 per car (plus booking fees) at www.123tix.com.au, the organisers have advised.
