He sent out a simple text message at 9pm the night after the fire started, and before he went to bed he had five loads of hay offered for donation. 

Mr Inder and several others delivered five semi-trailer and three table top trucks’ worth of hay mid-last week.

Mr Inder said the plan is to help those affected by stockpiling hay, and topping it up when it’s required.  

“At the moment we’ve got nearly 30 loads to be taken to farmers and we’ve got a few trucks doing the delivering – ranging from table-tops to one B-double.

“Donations are still very welcome, so we’re hoping that we can get more,” Mr Inder said.

While the call for donations has been heard throughout the region, Mr Inder said the majority of hay has come from local farmers.

“Everyone is playing a part – it’s been great.”

Mr Inder said he hasn’t done any of this work for personal gain or recognition. 

“These people are in a serious time of need and I just wanted to help them out,” he said.

Mr Inder said hay is being supplied to five properties at this stage. 

“All the properties have their fodder already put away, but we’re doing this so they aren’t hit too hard in a few months time… we’re trying to bridge the gap until next winter.”

Mr Inder believes the loads already donated will be gone within the fortnight.

“Hopefully we can get some more soon, because I don’t see these taking too long to get out there.”

He said offers of cash donations were appreciated, but we aren’t after cash donations.

“Anyone who wants to donate cash can buy things that will help these guys out instead.

“The thought’s are definitely appreciated, but these folks need more practical help at the moment,” he said.
