A structural integrity assessment was undertaken on the pool complex mid-last year. It found the pool was in poor to very poor condition and was within two years of its life expectancy.
To have the complex ready for swim season, Dubbo Regional Council spent $70,000 on temporary repairs. Director parks and landcare Ian McAlister said council will engage the community and experts to outline a plan.
“Although problematic from a funding perspective, this situation provides council with a unique opportunity to work closely with the Wellington community to develop a master plan for a new swimming complex that will cater for the community for at least the next 50 years,” Mr McAlister said.
A consultant to undertake the community engagement and create the master plan is likely to be engaged in February.
