Police have said the man entered the river for a swim early Saturday afternoon before being washed downstream.
He grabbed hold of a tree and climbed up as far as he could to safety.
SES responded within 20 minutes, retrieving the man.
A police spokesperson commended the action taken by the SES.
“It was another excellent rescue by the SES volunteers.”
