Before uniting with Webster-Hawes, Also A Star had gone more than 20 starts and two years since the last win, last recorded at Mudgee.
Now the overall winner of seven races, Also A Star is trained by Cec Hodgson for Andrew Schier and Allan Steele from Gilgandra.
At Narromine a week ago, Eleanor Webster-Hawes gave Also A Star a charmed run behind the leaders and the Cowra jockey produced another top ride in the Nautical Pools Benchmark 50 Handicap (1700m) at Wellington on Saturday.
From the widest gate in the twelve horse field, Also A Star ($6.50) was placed in a nice position running fifth going down the back straight before sprinting home for a one length win over Indoshadow (Rachael Murray, $7) and the Clint Lundholm-trained Hungerford Wonder (Kody Nestor, $8).
Rachael Murray from Scone, who set the pace on runner-up Indoshadow, went one better when winning the Barnson Benchmark 60 Handicap (1400 metres) on the Garry Lunn, Dubbo-trained Swiggin'.
Swiggin', which also won at Narromine for Lunn and Murray as a $16 outsider, was again at generous odds ($9) at Wellington.
On Saturday, after racing near the lead, finished best to beat Captain Scott (Aaron Bullock, $3.40) and Super Chase (Kacie Chater, $8).
There was more success for Dubbo trainers when the Peter Nestor-trained Danish Lace (Kaylee Kirkwood, $2) cleared out in the straight to win the S&S Lousick Earthmoving Benchmark 65 Handicap (1100m) by nearly five lengths.
Grey gelding Mr Swift, trained at Condobolin by Mark Ward for his daughter Dr Lily Ward (Forbes, David Simmons (Trundle) and Wayne McDonell (Orange) prevailed over a smart field of sprinters in the Byrne Plumbing Class 1 Handicap (900 metres).
