At Dubbo last Thursday 4515 prime cattle penned in another good quality yarding with some particularly good lines of heavy cows and steers. Young cattle were not the quality of the previous sale.

Trade steer yearlings were firm while vealer and heifer yearlings fell 10 to 15 cents, young feeder steers were firm to 3 cents cheaper however feeder heifers dropped 15 cents. Young restocker steers reached 426 cents, heavy steers were firm to 5 cents dearer, heavy heifers topped at 310 cents, plain cows were firm to 2 cents cheaper, finished cows gained 2 cents.
Quotations: calves 368 to 432, steer vealers 294 to 426, heifer vealers 320 to 389, steer yearlings 280 to 394 cents, heifer yearlings 258 to 371, heavy steers 242 to 353, bullocks 243 to 351, heavy heifers 234 to 320, medium cows 200 to 238, heavy cows 175 to 259, bulls 220 to 367.
On Friday 1380 store cattle penned in a fair quality yarding of steers and heifers with a larger percentage of yearlings and a good selection of cows and calves in excellent condition. The steer and heifer markets were firm, steer weaners sold from $480 to $1280 to avg $927 or 388 cents per kg. weaner heifers ranged from $655 to $955 to avg $835, steer yearlings traded from $800 to $1200 to avg $1035, heifer yearlings realised $900 to $1180 to avg $1045, one pen of PTIC heifers made $1400, PTIC cows sold from $1120 to $1825 for a pen of Angus. Cows and calves ranged from $1320 to $2650 for a pen of Black Baldys with large calves at foot, unjoined cows traded from $840 to $1100.
Monday at Dubbo 14900 lambs penned in a much plainer quality yarding with only the odd pen of ideal trade and heavy lambs. Processor light lambs dropped $5, trade lambs lost $2 to $4, trade old lambs fell $4, limited numbers of heavy lambs were $4 to $7 cheaper. Merino lambs were firm to $2 cheaper with trade types ranging from $96 to $130 and the heavy end topping at $138. Restocker lambs reached $119 and hoggets sold to $118 for full wool Merinos.
Quotations: light young lamb $80 to $112, medium young lamb $96 to $118, heavy young lamb, $118 to $133, supermarket young lamb $133 to $152, light lamb $77 to $96, medium lamb $86 to $122, heavy lamb $115 to $136, supermarket lamb $123 to $160, export lamb $155 to $172. 7070 mutton penned in a good quality yarding with some outstanding lines of heavy ewes and wethers. Most grades were firm to $2 cheaper.
