It was a relaxed event, where fun and laughs were at the top of everybody’s agenda. Darryl Griffiths was on hand with his tape measure to show everyone the ropes.
Mumbil Advancement Association Member Danielle Eade said many playing on the day had never played bowls before but that wasn’t about to stop them.
“It was also great to see the younger locals like the Hanrahan kids out having a crack at the game. It was fantastic to see so many outside enjoying the afternoon sports,” Mrs Eade said.
She said it was great to see many younger locals coming out to take part in what she hopes will be a growing community event.
The winner of the Not So Juniors competition was Brett Gleeson, who finished only two points clear of Mrs Eade in the final mixed playoff round.
Mrs Eade said the Mumbil Advancement Association are working hard to offer a variety of community programs and fundraisers, including sports, and family and community events that are low cost and accessible to everyone.
Barefoot Bush Bowls will be held every fortnight over the summer with the cost being $5 for adults and free for kids.
The next game will be held at 2pm Sunday November 6 at Griffo’s Burrendong Hotel in Mumbil.
