The grants will be used to upgrade toilet facilities at Pioneer Park, and to purchase portable goals to facilitate the summer competition.
Club registrar Allan Nicholson put together the grant applications and is thrilled to see they have been approved.
“We’ve been in need of some upgrades for a while now. We’ve received some critical comments in the past - about the women’s toilets, especially.”
Mr Nicholson said that the improvement of the facilities will hopefully bring more people to the already large community event.
“The summer competition is a mixed one, so we’re seeing a lot of the team’s are families. It’s great, bringing families together.”
Club president Geert Woldhuis said the upgrades will help the soccer club and Wellington ‘tremendously’.
Mr Nicholson said lights for Pioneer Park are next on the agenda.
