The game did live up to its hype with fast-paced touch, awesome tries and all students giving their all before Wellington High claimed the cup.
The Wellington High boys team was just too good, schooling the St Mary’s boys with their blistering speed to run over their opposition 12‐0.
They were led around the park by Rylee Blackhall and Kenny Bell setting up tries all over the field, but credit to St Mary’s they never gave up, coming at the home side for the entire match.
The girls match was much tighter as the game was held at 1‐1 for long period of time until Josie Clarke made a break down the home team’s short side for Sophie Whiteman to set up Ella James to score in the corner.
But the game was still not over with both girls teams getting very physical and testing each other’s line until the final siren for St Mary’s to win 2‐1.
Don Green awarded the cup to Wellington High this year because they scored the most points in the matches.
Green was a well-known maths teacher at Wellington High and is a NSW and Australian touch football selector.
He praised both teams playing at a high-paced and high level of touch football.
