Martial Delabarre and wife Catherine will join the community for a special Fromelles Memorial Service on September 16.
The commemoration has been organised by Maurice Campbell.
Fromelles, fought 100 years ago in July 1916, was the first major battle involving Australian troops on the Western Front.
More than 5000 Australian soldiers died.
Mr Campbell has been documenting war stories for decades and also working for years to restore the Bodangora memorial.
The memorial will again be the scene of remembrance on September 16, with the service to start at 11am.
Finishing touches are being made to the arrangements for the day and members of the public are welcome to attend.
