Maranatha House residents and friends came together for a remembering ceremony on August 24.
Wattle, a symbol of grief, was prominent during the service, held to acknowledge grief experienced in the past year.
Residents took part in the ceremony, which included prayers, readings, poems and an address by a representative of the NALAG Centre for Loss and Grief.
The service honoured residents who had died in the past 12 months, Maranatha House emotional/spiritual support person Marian Pool said.
“It is an opportunity to reconnect with their families as quite often when a resident passes away we lose contact with their families, which can lead to them feeling disconnected,” she said.
“We have found that this service will assist in the grieving process, as staff are often affected by residents passing.
“(Residents) can become an extension of our own families.”
