Wellington students brought characters from books to life on Wednesday as schools marked the annual Children’s Book Week.

Students from both St Mary’s Catholic School and Wellington Public School swapped uniforms for the costumes of their favourite literary creations.
Parents had a busy time preparing and many came along to the schools for the events.
The St Mary’s community gathered in the school hall for performances by the students.
Teachers also took the opportunity to dress up for the day.
The 2016 Book Week theme was Australia! Story Country and next year’s theme was announced as Escape to Everywhere.
