Lorraine Gould has started the challenge of 22 push-ups a day for 22 days.
She’s putting her muscles into it in support of defence personnel suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
She did her first set of push-ups wearing a shirt belonging to her soldier son.
“I’m a 50-odd-year-old grandmother, I gave it a good go,” Ms Gould said.
“And I nominate someone else every day to take up the challenge.”
The determined woman is about to enter the second week of the challenge, fitting the 22 push-ups into her busy schedule.
Ms Gould is also the new chairwoman of Legacy Wellington, which is preparing for Legacy Week.
The push-up challenge idea originated in the USA to highlight the number of veterans said to take their own lives each day.
The campaign has since spread to Australia, with participants taking to social media.
