Jane was finalist in the 2016 Miss Wellington Showgirl competition.

Jane is involved in her community and works hard to develop a role in the rural areas of New South Wales. She won the award together with other students from Mendooran and Gulgargamobone.

The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) Foundation hosted a presentation in Armidale to celebrate 58 students awarded Rural Scholarships in 2016. An initiative designed to build strong and vibrant NSW rural communities, the scholarships are awarded to students originally from rural areas, and offer $5,000 for full-time study and $2,500 for part-time study.

RAS Foundation Executive Officer, Kate Ross, said since the inception of the program in 2011, this is the largest and most diverse group of scholars awarded yet, and is again thrilled the Foundation will provide a stepping stone for bright futures. “This year the RAS Foundation will proudly support a diverse group of talented individuals, all with amazing and unique backgrounds. We have a single father, a Vietnamese refugee as well as a young Indigenous woman, who is the first of 52 grandchildren to go to University; and that’s just three of the 58,” Ms Ross said.

“The RAS Foundation is committed to helping rural Australians realise their potential through education and training. Each year, we are impressed with the quality of applicants and inspired by their journeys. “We again look forward to supporting these rural-minded students as they work towards achieving their goals,” Ms Ross said. The RAS Foundation has awarded over $1.4m to over 300 rural scholarship recipients since 2011. 

Anna and Scott Brien will host a field day at Bella Lana near Dripstone on Friday to showcase sheep and wool classing with a number of top speakers lined up for a 9.30am. beginning .

There are 4 speakers who will discuss many issues at the field day.
