Cowboys rugby league secretary Ray Fabar said it was exciting news for Wellington. He said it would go toward storage facilities, grand stand upgrade and also bringing the fence around the ground closer to the field.
‘’With this money we can upgrade the facility so families can come here to be comfortable and watch their children and the senior teams play. The ground also caters for rugby union and junior league so this is fantastic for the community and Wellington.''
The federal nationals candidate for Calare said ground upgrade was much overlooked and the funding would become immediately available on the relection of the Liberal/National government on Saturday.
''I initially thought we would only be able to secure a smaller amount than that but having spoke to campaign headquarters and Barnaby Joyce's office and given the state of the park and how much funding is needed we have got it done. We think this will make a real difference. It will help with rejuvenation of this community facility,’’
''Its a grant to help the community, not only football, it's to encourage kids to play and encourage families to come here no wants to participate and go along to facilities which are rundown and dilapidated ‘’ Mr Gee said.
Mr Fabar says he will see the administrator of the Western Plains Regional Council to gain matching funding and he says local businesses will benefit from working on the upgrade.
