The match lived up to its hype with a torrid opening sector. The Redbacks forwards steadfast in defence and it rattle the visitors at Montefiore's.
Molong broke an early deadlock with half Will Oldham potting a penalty but James Cusack also snared a three pointer.
Wellington were the first break the advantage line and following some heavy hitting runs Matt Watson lurking on the far right edge hammered through defenders to score with Cusack’s additional points it was 10-3.
But centre Damien Hayes on the back of some fast flowing put Molong right back in it 10-8 the break.
Oldham got an early penalty and it was the last time Molong would see the lead. Winger James Cusack rushed over on the right and prop Will Redfern having a large match crashed over and WEllington had moved to 24-11 lead.
Joe Reid’s try set up an exciting finish. Molong were coming hard but in the end the Redbacks playing one of their best matches of the year held on gamely to win.
