The first ever meeting of the Western Plains Regional Council was held in Wellington Wednesday night before a large crowd which was three or four deep.

The meeting had an unusual look about it. There was no mayor in charge, no councillors. Around the table staff, the administrator and general manager Mark Riley in charge.
The council is a merger between Wellingon and Dubbo.
Revealed at the meeting more than $10m has been allocated for Wellington works at the opening meeting of the Western Plains Regional Council.
Waste management charges look likely to jump.
The meeting run by administrator Michael Kniepp also advised $10m would spent on the Dubbo Airport. The money will be for a runway.
In the crowd were former Wellington mayor Anne Jones, former councillors Mark Griggs, Pip Smith, David Grant, Marcus Hanney.
4 former councillors from Wellington and Dubbo will make up a representative commitee. We understand Anne Jones, Pip Smith, David Grant and Graham Cross will be part of the new look community group in the lead up to the election in September 2017.
John Walkom, Rod Towney, Kevin Parker and Ben Shields are the Dubbo representatives it is understood. Former Dubbo Mayor Mat Dickerson says he is dissappointed to be left out.
The meeting has not been disrupted by protestors like others across the state.
