Wellington Golf Club had 44 golfers hitting the fairways last Saturday on an absolutely gorgeous day for golf.
Draw for the last 16 in the Kiss Trophy see`s Kurt Cusack taking on David Ryan, Rodney Cunynghame has defeated Russ Frazer, Bernard Smith takes on Garth Watts, Rex England has defeated Ron Cowan, Gary McNaughton takes on Neil Hollow, Michael Bullock takes on Tim Parker, Mac Harvey takes on Kevin Reid, Bill Bright takes on David Naveau. All these matches are to be played by the 4th of June.
Draw for round 1 of the Cornish Trophy see`s Mitchell and James Cusack taking on Mac Harvey-Fletcher Ivey, Gary Cusack-Darren Whiteley have a bye, Jim and Reid Armstrong have a bye, Rod Pedron-Tim Parker have a bye, Robert Baker-Gary Holding take on Brent Eather-David Wilson, Garth Watts-Kevin Reid have defeated Malcolm Payne-Steven McCarroll 5/4, Gary McCarroll-Alan Ritchie take on Ben and Lewis McCarthy, David Ryan-Kevin Athanasiou take on Bill Bright-Peter Bryant, Rodney Cunynghame-Bernard Smith have a bye, Peter Cornish-Neil Hollow take on Wayne Lang-Ron Cowan, Liam Brien-Rod McMahon take on David Naveau-Jamie Gersbach, Norm Royal-John Donnelly have a bye, Paul Hannelly-Peter Payne have a bye, Josh Bullock-Luke Milgate take on Doug Ney-Craig Brien, Barry Jeffery-Rod Irwin have a bye. Round 1 matches are to be played by the 28th of May.
Last week`s event was an Individual Stableford with Josh Bullock being the kind sponsor.
This week`s events are a 4Ball Aggregate Stableford plus round 1 of the Cornish Trophy.
Sunday see`s the playing of the Federal Hotel Wellington Amateur Open in A, B and C Grades with a tee-off time sheet now available with the tee`s open from 8am till 10.30am and all it costs to play on the day is $40 which includes a scrumches lunch and plenty of prizes up for grabs. Many thanks to the Federal Hotel for their support this year and the many years prior.
Events for June are; 4th Wellington Soldiers Memorial Club sponsored Monthly Medals in A and B grades, round 7 of the John Gersbach Putting competition, round 7 of the Wellington Soldiers Memorial Club Pointscore, Last 16 of the Kiss Trophy. 11th 4Ball Aggregate, N.S.W 4Ball Qualifier, comp fee`s for the day are $27, 18th 4Ball Aggregate, round 2 Cornish Trophy, 19th Keno Mixed 4Ball Qualifier, comp fees are $27, 25th Individual Stableford, Quarter Finals Kiss Trophy.
Winner of the Individual Stableford with a good score on a difficult set-up was Garry McNaughton who finished with 40pts.
Runner up and only just was Chris Woolfrey who put together a good round as well and he finished with 39pts.
Ball competition winners were; Gary McNaughton 40pts, Chris Woolfrey 39pts, Bernard Smith 38pts, Michael Bullock 38pts, Kevin Athanasiuo 38pts, Gary Cusack 37pts, Darren Whiteley 37pts, Peter Cornish 36pts and Garth Watts 35pts.
Ron Stubberfeild Toyota Terrific Tee shot on the 3rd Steven Kiss, on the 8th Lewis McCarthy, on the 14th John Donnelly, on the 16th Garth Watts 1.9mts.
Gersbach Mechanical nearest the pin in 2 shots on the 12th was won by David Naveau.
McDonald’s biggest whack in A grade went to Rod McMahon and in B grade it was Gary McNaughton.
Brent`s N’F’I award winner from last Saturday`s golf was Kevin Whale who didn`t have the best of days on the course as he only finished with 24pts.
