The first of its kind, the event is scheduled for May 22 and offers a 72km and a 120km course.
One of the organisers from the Forbes Cycling Club, Julianna Kneebone, said Forbes offers a unique opportunity for cyclists.
‘It’s flat, so there’s no spell, no resting while on the downhill,” she said.
“If you’re not pedalling, you’re not moving.”
Ms Kneebone said the aim is to increase participation in cycling, as well as have an event in the region, for the region.
“Having said that, we already have entrants from Sydney and Canberra,” she said.
Juniors are also showing interest in the event, with registrations from Griffith and Wagga.
Ms Kneebone said it would be a fun day with prizes for different age categories.
The event starts and finishes at the Forbes aquatic centre with an 8.45am start for the 120km and 1.30am start for the 70km.
The event is open to everyone but registration is cheaper for current Cycling Australia licence holders.
Registration costs $50 for the 72km and $60 for the 120km. There’s an extra $11.50 charge for non-members to cover insurance for the ride.
Registrations available from forbescycling@gmail.com or through the Forbes Flat Land Cyclo Sportif Facebook page.
