Mr Craig , a former paramedic who now works as a nurse at a Lithgow aged care facility, is no stranger to election campaigns.
He has previously nominated as a candidate for the Senate and for the last Lithgow Council election.
He is also active in public affairs as a vocal advocate for the successful reopening of the Kirkconnell Correctional Centre and for social and political justice for East Timor and West Papua.
Mr Craig is critical of the extent of Australian aid to Indonesia which he says provides support for that country’s military oppression in the disputed territories to the north of Australia.
‘We are providing huge amounts to support Indonesia when we can’t find money to support our own aged care needs,” he said.
“Where is the logic? There is something seriously wrong with the system.”
Mr Craig said he is confident of securing the 100 signatures required within 10 days to endorse his nomination.
He is the fourth candidate announced for Calare following on the ALP, Nationals and Xenophon Party
