This year the Wellington Arts committee was excited to hear from regional artists that Wellington is considered the next big thing in regional arts development.
This has excited the committee, which is focused on not only promoting Wellington's artists, but also the creation of tourism that is at the forefront of event promotion.
"Building events and creating a great experience for visitors to Wellington will encourage the regional spend in Wellington that is so needed to drive economic development in our community," current Wellington Arts committee chair Danielle Anderson said.
"Building the opportunities for visitors to engage in Wellington and visit our shops, cafes, arts events will attract the dollars necessary to attract new businesses to our town.
"It is not about shopping locally, it's about creating an environment that people want to spend time in.
"If locals and visitors enjoy being here, they will spend their time and money here. It's not rocket science, just commonsense."
Wellington Arts, Wellington Rotary, Wellington Quota Club, Wellington Lions Club are just examples of the opportunity Wellington residents have in joining in to help Wellington rebuild.
It's not time to ask "What are they doing to restore Wellington?" It's time to ask "What am I doing to restore Wellington?"
Since it's launch in February last year, Wellington Arts has been working hard on its promise to develop, promote and advocate for local artists.
Last year Wellington Arts' major projects included the Wellington Jazz and Sculpture Festival; the two-man show Dead Men Talking, starring Warren Fahey and Max Cullen, at the Soldiers Club;
'Arts in the Garden' at the home of Vance and Jan Montgomery in Montefiores; the SpringFest Art Exhibition in the Old Western Stores Building, which was transformed into a gallery for the event; 28 workshops, including Circus West for kids, music, arts for kids and arts workshops at Maranatha.
Wellington Arts supports the work of local arts organisations through promotion of Oliver WATS Musical, Wellington Eisteddfod and Quota Art Competition just to name a few.
Further to this the promotion and support of local artists is through web/facebook promotion of individual artists and the promotion of arts exhibitions such as Survivors, an Indigenous arts exhibition by Asher Milgate and Sue 'n Paul's Rustic Garden Art Show 'n Sell in Sue Towney's garden.
While Wellington Arts will continue to support these functions for next year a host of new and exciting events is being planned for 2016 already.
The Music In Between festival (January 13 to 17 2016) was an unprecedented collaboration between local musicians, venues and Wellington Arts.
The response of artists and businesses in taking advantage of the week between the Elvis Festival in Parkes and the Country Music Festival in Tamworth was overwhelming. More than 50 artists and 27 events were planned for this festival.
"The creation of the Music In Between festival is a perfect example of the pivotal role Wellington Arts can play in developing, promoting and supporting the local arts community and its musicians, performers, painters, writers, photographers and textile artists," Ms Anderson said.
"We are keen to build on the success of these initiatives and capitalise on the momentum created.
"We have many friends of Wellington Arts who assist with events and their co-ordination, however there are always 'jobs for willing hands'. Many people are keen to help at particular event/s.
"Should you like to offer your assistance at an event being planned please contact us on our Facebook page wellingtonarts2820 or by contacting me on 0428 417 548," Ms Anderson concluded.
