Taking a pirate story with a message about littering to the stage, St Mary's Catholic School performed The Pint Sized Pirate after a term of dedicated hard work.

While the primary students made up most of the cast, everyone helped out with the enormous sea-themed backdrops painted by the secondary art students to the sound and lighting and the costumes which were made by students, parents and teachers.
Wellington Public School, the Christian School and Maranatha residents all came for the matinee performance followed by a performance last night.
Teacher Jeanette Miller said it was an opportunity for students of all ages to demonstrate many different talents and work solidly on a project, bringing it to performance standard.
"[For] students who are not all great at maths and English some can be quite creative and it gives them an opportunity to shine and demonstrate skills when they don't usually do that sort of thing," she said.
