I note in the 'Times that a meeting is proposed on the 31st August for the NSW planning Assessment Commission to hear new submissions from persons interested in the revised Power Station Project.-
-
-
My young family lived for many years, within 300 metres of the Boyer Newsprint Mill in Tasmania, where there were substantially higher noise levels, across the full range of frequencies, than anywhere near those being projected for this Power Station.-
-
-
I do not pretend that we were unaware of the noise, but the only time this noise affected us was when there was a reduction or change in noise, indicating a problem somewhere in the Mill which frequently involved me as a Production Manager, being called in to help rectify the problem.-
-
-
Given that we experienced great lifestyle and health, and our house did not fall down, and none of us have been diagnosed with insanity or unusual syndrome, I find it hard to accept the extreme claims of the proposed Power Station opponents.-
-
-
Today locally, we all hear and feel the low frequency rumble of the freight trains across the Maryvale Valley and in Wellington, especially when the water table is up, or during cold wet weather, and there is no complaint about the heavy trucks passing through town and creating infrasound levels above those projected from the proposed Power Station.-
-
-
As is the case with the proposed Power Station, these noise generators and many others, are essential contributors to our incomes and standard of living.-
-
-
Normal unaffected people are living with real noise, under Airport Flight Paths, driving heavy farm, earthmoving and mining equipment, working in Shearing Sheds and even mowing their lawn and nothing like any of these noise impacts is projected.-
-
-
As an essential element, with Solar and Wind, in reducing our impact on our environment, this project should be supported on its original siting for optimum grid connection and convenient gas supply, especially given the independent well qualified assurance of minimal noise impact from that site.-
-
-
The change from 4 to 2 Generators, following the original Project approval, is no doubt commercially beneficial to the Project.-
-
-
Lets stop mucking developers around and get on with a bit of real progress.-
