Thieves made off with a pallet of meat and also a pig.
Police also said a 15-year-old boy has been charged with throwing a rock at the Palki Indian Restaurant. Senior Sergeant Simon Madgwick said community information through Crimestoppers helped them apprehend the teenager.
"The community is really engaging with the Gungie Dob In A Dealer campaign and also the reporting of other crimes. It's a really positive story for the community and police here," Senior Sergeant Madgwick said.
Meanwhile, Acting Inspector of the Orana Local Area Command Scott Tanner will be in Wellington on Thursday for a meeting which will talk about community solutions.
The event part of the Gungie Origin program will look at what the community can offer as local solutions to crime matters Police Aboriginal Liasion Officer Zeke Shaw said. "We are inviting all community members to give us their ideas and thoughts on how we share resources and bring about effective solutions. We don't want it to be a talkfest we'd like to act on people's ideas and work effectively together," he said.
