Undermanned Under 18’s players stepped up for Wellington with Will Lousick playing on his second game in the big league grabbing two tries as a winger.
Club secretary Ray Fabar said Wellington have set up a strong platform for their final home match against Dubbo Westside and then the finals.
‘’A number of players were rested during the match in preparation for the bigger matches ahead but captain coach Justin Toomey White, Ken Everson, Nathan Smith and youngsters Kotoni Staggs and Will Lousick were very impressive,’’ he said.
The Reserve grade also played well considering it was also without a number of players and recorded a 46-10 win ‘’ A number of our juniors were forced to step into the breach and really played exceptionally.’’
The Under 18’s side had a 80-6 victory ‘’Brogan Black had a huge match. He scored an amazing eight tries. He needs a huge pat on the back for that effort remarkable performance.’’ Mr Fabar said.
Wellington’s women’s side were unlucky going down 20-18.
Meanwhile, the Dubbo Rhinos are through to preliminary final of rugby union’s Graincorp Cup.
The Rhinos beat Coonabarabran 38-22 at Dubbo and will meet the loser of this weeks major semi final between Trangie and Yeoval.
