About 30 residents turned up to a meeting with A Current Affair on Thursday night, voicing their concerns about crime in Wellington as well as ideas on how to tackle it.
ACA also met with Mayor Rod Buhr who said it was important for the community to keep a positive outlook.
"We have got to be positive, the community has to work together to solve some of our problems.
"If we don't work together it's not going to happen," he said adding that he believed a solution was achievable for the town.
He said if anything the team from A Current Affair liked Wellington when they arrived.
"They themselves thought Wellington was a beautiful place. They saw first hand some of the great attractions," he said.
The program is expected to air within the fortnight.
