The Redbacks were relying on a win, but in the end the Kookas won with a score of 24-14.
While the Redbacks were down 5 players, vice president Paul Bradford felt the team's performance was still ordinary.
"They were disappointing results," coach Dave Sturman said.
"Our front row was out, as well as other forwards and not much on the bench, but we've got Yeoval to finish the season and we want to make a statement for the end of the season.
"We will be going back to the basics. I would like to create a simple structure."
"The forwards are going to set a platform so we can unleash the flashy backs."
Tries were scored by Matt Watson and Bill Stanley and Sturman gave a special mention to Mitch Cusack for a fantastic game, as well as Bill Stanley, Ryan Byrne and Sam Bullock.
James Cusack and Zac McManus were both injured in what Sturman described as a very physical game.
"Coonabarabran played well. In the end they wanted it more than us," he said.
Coonabarabran is now 4th on the ladder while Yeoval is secure in the running for the Graincorp Cup after beating the Dubbo Rhinos 34/15.
This was a special victory for Yeoval who were beaten in the grand final last year by the Rhinos at home.
Yeoval are currently second on the ladder while Trangie is on top and will keep its position with a bye next week.
The Dubbo Rhinos are running third.
