Geurie led 19-0 in a highly active local derby against Wellington but in the second half the Wellington scored 6 unanswered tries to ran out easy winners 55-19.
Flanker Kurt Stokes surged over on the left edge first and then Harry May was impressive for the Goats and then Jono Marks took a speculative intercept setting up Hayden Crean and in an amazing first fifteen minutes Geurie ahead 19-0. The penalty count going against Wellington but change was about to happen.
But back to back tries including a good one for Sam Troth made it 19-12 at the break.
The team’s paused to remember his grand father at games start.
Straight after the break a different Wellington were a different team Mitch Cusack blazed on the right, then Jarred Wykes came out and shot a gap off a beautiful short ball for one of his double.
Zac McManus and fittingly Sam Troth followed, Mitch Cusack sailed over for his double and then James Cusack dived over under an avalanche of players and the Redbacks with football scored a thumping win whether its enough to make the finals is unknown but this talented side deserve that much.
