General manager Debra Wells said while cancer was a very serious issue, the fundraiser was always a happy occasion and residents showed great generosity towards the cause.
"I don't think there's anybody here who hasn't been affected by cancer," she said.
"Everybody seems so generous when raising money for cancer research and we love getting out all the fine china."
At this stage Maranatha has raised $2484, their biggest amount yet, but the fundraiser isn't finished until 10am on Tuesday when their raffle is drawn at the Soldiers Memorial Club's Biggest Morning Tea.
Board member Rae Batho said she was always struck by people's generosity when it came to the Cancer Council.
"When we sell daffodils [for Daffodil Day] people come up to us and are happy to give something and I think it's because they have someone in the family with cancer or they have got cancer and it gives some comfort to think they are doing that."
