Wellington's walkers made a total of 1,087,761 steps this week, a little down from last week's 1,175,490 and 1,298,072 the week before due to a change in the weather.

But as it clears, Rusan Hill is hoping that people will take on the challenge to get healthy and active by walking more.
The physio assistant in charge of the chronic care program said while step numbers were down, people were coming along to join the walkers regardless of whether they were in the challenge and using a pedometer, so more people were getting active.
She was also noticing people of all ages and walks of life socialising as they came together to walk from the library at 5pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, as well as Wednesday at 8.30am in Pioneer Park.
She is hoping that even more people will come along and join in.
Each week, a winner has been declared as residents log in their steps collectively and soon the month's winner will be announced.
