To find out more about this landmark event in the history of the nation, come to the library and explore the legend by looking through the pictures, photographs, old letters and artefacts documented in books from the collection.

There will be reading lists and book displays at Wellington Library with some of the best that has been published about WWI and ANZAC day available for view or loan.

Titles include: 25 April 1915: The Day the Anzac Legend was Born by David W. Cameron, which has been reviewed as a "riveting, superbly researched account" and Peter Fitzsimons Gallipoli, written with his "trademark vibrancy and expert melding of writing and research".

If visuals are more to your taste, the beautiful ANZAC Treasures: The Gallipoli Collection of the Australian War Memorial is an incredible book at seeing memorabilia from the war and for animal lovers, Bill the Bastard by Roland Perry tells the story of Australia's greatest war horse.

WWI local heroes on the library website

Macquarie Regional Library is proud to announce that 63 new photographs of local soldiers from the Australian War Memorial have been added to the Pictures Catalogue.

These are searchable through the library website on www.mrl.nsw.gov.au where you can view not only these but lots of other pictures of Dubbo, Wellington and the surrounding areas from long ago.

Have your say, the right way

Wellington Council is looking for input from the community on how they can best manage the town of Wellington and distribute funding across various town services in a sustainable way.

There are very important decisions to be made which will affect the future of the town of Wellington and there is currently an opportunity for residents to have their say about what happens.

Both at the council building and the Wellington Library asurvey is available to fill out and give feedback about whichservices matter to you and your family.

If you care about how the council maintains things like swimming pools, sports fields, social services and last but not least the library, please come in and have your say.

Beautifying Wellington

If you are interested in how Wellington Council is managing the improvement of Wellington in terms of parks and gardens, it is highly-recommended to come into the library or stop in at council to look over the plans for remodelling Cameron Park.

Landscaping of the park is in the pipelines and the plans are on display at the library, with large colour photographs and diagrams of proposed changes.

All are welcome to come view these and are encouraged to also fill out the feedback survey.

Submissions are being accepted until Wednesday May 13 so make sure you get in before they close.
