In trends recorded for major criminal incidents during January 2013 to December 2014. -

Break and enter into dwelling jumped 50% while break and enter into dwellings moved ahead by 5% on a local front. -

Malicious damage into property dropped by 23.7%.-

Numbers also in fraud, steal from a person, steal dwelling, steal motor vehicle all fell.-

But there are concerning numbers over domestic violence which jumped by 30 incidents. -

NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Justice and Police Troy Grant said the latest Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR) quarterly crime data shows 16 of the State's major offence categories are either trending downwards or stable.-

Recorded over the past two years to December 2014, Mr Grant said the latest report highlighted a lot of positives.-

"With respect to the 17 major crime categories, 16 either decreased over the reporting period or remained stable," Mr Grant said.-

"Robbery crimes with and without a weapon have recorded substantial falls of 14.5% and 21.7% respectively, break and enter non-dwelling is down 12.8%, and steal from person is down 14.6%.-

"Non-fatal shootings have remained stable, continuing the trend over the last five and ten years.-

"While I am concerned steal from dwelling recorded a 3.2% increase over the reporting period, BOCSAR observes most of this increase appears to be due to offences occurring outside residential buildings.-

"Common items stolen include parts of the house such as hot water systems and mailboxes, as well as bicycles and scooters, so I encourage everyone to take care when storing valuable items around their properties."
