‘’I have only had her for 14 weeks and there was a lot of work to do with the horse but some physiotherapy on Siderlite and bit of old fashion love and care got her home today and she got there.’’ Mr McCarney said.
The Wellington trainer has only recently taken over the mare by Northern Meteor and said she was showing promise.
The 4 year old starting at $10 just beat Danish Lace $5 with Moss My Name third the favourite Intrepido in fourth spot.
McCarney partnered with dynamic apprentice Winona Costin to take the honours. A few races later the jockey had a spectacular fall in the Wellington Cup and was transported to Dubbo Hospital with a sore neck and blurred vision.
McCarney is making a habit of winning big races at Wellington. He brought Fox Solid home in the Federal Hotel Geoff England Memorial Cup two years . The victory sparked big celebrations that day and there were big cheers from the crowd for the popular trainer.
