Acting controller Sonsera Boles, said it was a great way to develop skills, self-worth and confidence as well as help out the community.
She said the SES were on the lookout for new volunteers and she urged anyone who might be interested to contact her on 0457 850 031.
SES open for business
The day was also a chance for the public to see the headquarters which were newly renovated thanks to the generous bequest of the late Max Gibbs.
