The retired school teacher was surprised and delighted to receive the honour and thanked everyone for their support and friendship over the years.
Pat has played the piano for the many rehearsals and shows WATS has produced and was tireless accompanist for Junior WATS for several years.
Her valuable experience and dedication is appreciated by many who have attended and performed in the fabulous shows.
Some of the highlights of Pat's time with WATS has included the 1988 production of Tickle Yer Fancy when she was in the orchestra playing keyboard. In 1989 she was the musical director and pianist for Sweeney Todd. Pat has played for every show since, including Something's Afoot, Nunsense, The King and I, The Sound of Music, Tom Foolery, Calamity Jane, Everything Goes, The Boyfriend, Oklahoma, Joseph, Annie and numerous pantomimes including the 2013 presentation of Fancy That.
The adventurous Pat played the piano on the back of a truck which was WATS float in the Centenary of Federation parade in 2001.
She was also seen playing the piano at the Showground during a gig WATS did at a Vintage Fair!
Pat joins other Life members, David Thomson, Bill McKenzie, Helen and Noel Grimes.
During the meeting Shirley Drysdale was re-elected president, Noel Grimes and Margaret Grasnick vice-presidents, Bob Collier secretary, Teresa Johnson treasurer, Pat Bell and Noel Grimes musical directors, Helen Grimes costume manager, Margaret Grasnick assistant costume manager, Marie Hoffman publicity, Neil Blake technical director, Noel Grimes assistant technical director.
WATS has a busy year ahead and started well assisting with the launch of Wellington Arts on February 28 at the Civic Centre.
The main event to be held June 13 and 14 will be Oliver, which has been cast and rehearsals commence at WATS place on March 9 (juniors 3.15 for a 3.30pm start) and seniors from 6.30pm.
Everyone is excited and keen to get the show underway.
Later in the year WATS will be assisting the SpringFest committee with another historic re-enactment.
As well as all the shows, Shed committeeman Noel Grimes says the long-awaited storage shed is well on its way and they will be pleased to be able to store their large scenery and props on site.
