Wellington Council has appointed Karen Roberts as acting general manager for the next 12 months. Ms Roberts takes over from Michael Tolhurst who resigned earlier this year.

"Councillors voted unanimously to continue with Karen. She has been at the council for quite a considerable period and is in tune with local issues," mayor Rod Buhr said.
"She will be a steady hand on the rudder of council and will be very helpful in making us Fit For The Future," he said. Ms Roberts also came in for strong support at Monday night's Wellington Business Chamber meeting.
